Stephanie began dancing at the age of 4 and has been at it ever since. In 1990 her mother Nancy Dunn opened On Your Toes Dance Studio here in the upper Keys, where Stephanie continued her training in ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics. Throughout high school Stephanie competed with her studio taking home numerous awards including the prestigious Edith Royal Memorial Scholarship for overall high scores in all categories of dance from Florida Dance Masters of America. She graduated with honors from University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications and a minor in Political Science. Stephanie danced with Floridance, Florida’s M.O.D. project, a modern dance company, and the People’s Touring Project. Stephanie studied in residence at UF with Merce Cunningham Company, ODC San Francisco, and Shapiro and Smith Dance. After graduating Stephanie returned to the Keys to work at On Your Toes and now is the owner of the studio. In addition to teaching classes, she also co-directs and choreographs for On Your Toes Dance Studio’s Elite Competition Team. Her students have taken top honors at regional and national competitions and Stephanie has been recognized for her outstanding choreography. She is a certified member of Florida Dance Masters of America.
Ballet, Tap, Jazz
Miss Bernice and her family moved to the Keys after Hurricane Andrew in 1992. She is a retired first grade teacher of 31 years with a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught at Plantation Key School for 20 years. She coached cheerleading at both Coral Shores High School and PKS. She has danced ballet most of her life and has continued dancing during her adult life in Coral Gables and On Your Toes! She recently became a Certified Personal Trainer. She enjoys working with young children and looks forward to instilling a love of dance and nourishing the creativity and confidence they need to grow.
Acrobatics/Power Tumbling & Cheerleading
We are very proud to introduce our new Adv. Tumbling instructor, Hunter Kinney. He is a 3-time triple gold medalist at the AAU Jr. Olympics, 2-time USTA National Champion and a member of the AAU National Team! He resides in Key Largo and is a mammal trainer and Intern Coordinator at Dolphins Plus.
Wrestling & Fitness
Chris is a great addition to our family. He grew up in the Florida Keys and went to Coral Shores High School where he presently is the head wrestling coach. Along with being our Wrestling and Fitness instructor, he is also a personal trainer and a substitute teacher. He has an AA in Physical Education and is currently working on his BA. His fitness class is for adults which offers a full-body, high-intesity exercise workout. Wrestling is offered to ages 8 & up.
